Little Drummer Boy!

This is not a Christmas post about the song "Little Drummer Boy" although I did sing this as a solo for a  Christmas choir concert (but that is for another post).  Denver loves playing the drums at my parents house.  My dad is going to have to start drum lessons pretty soon.   I posted a little video clip of him drumming this morning, check it out.

We have all been doing well, staying busy chasing after a 1 1/2 year old and changing diapers.  Just trying to get a quick post in while someone is napping.  This morning Denver's new word was "apple juice" which was exciting for Grant and I.  I think he has gained a couple of pounds since coming home and his little face seems to be filling out some.  Well that's all I have for now. I hope you all are doing well.  God Bless!

It's Been 3 Weeks!!!

I cannot believe that it has been 3 weeks since Denver has been home.  He is making great progress everyday and is learning so much.  It's so funny how kids are like little sponges soaking up everything.    I am starting to get the hang of this stay at home mom stuff.  I'm not much into schedules and routines so everyday is a little different for us.  Denver has slept through the night for the past 2 nights, of course I know I just jenxed us so I'm sure tonight he will be up 10 times :)
We just finished VBS at our church so this week has been a little busy but I'd rather be busy than bored.
On a more seious note I ask that you all pray for those in the Horn of Africa right now.  They are facing a serious drought and famine across Somalia, Kenya, Ethiopia and other countries.  Many are dying of starvation and malnutrition.  You don't see or hear much about this on the news but it is said to be the worst dry spell in 50 years.  My heart aches for those that are suffering.  We are so blessed in America that we often take many things like water and food for granted, but their are many that go without.  Thanks for reading and God bless.
Denver playing with his blocks, he loves to chunk them across the house but we're working on that.

Walking and Kissing Fool

Someone around this house has turned into a walking fool and a lover boy.  Grant is to thank for the walking and I am to thank for the kissing.  He has been walking really good for the last 3 days.  I started teaching him to kiss a couple of days ago and it is one of his favorite things to do now.  He won't do it in front of others so we had to get it on video so people would believe me.  See I am actually teaching him stuff while we are home all day.  The first thing he wants to do when Grant comes home from work is give him some sugars.  He also knows where his nose and belly are, we are currently working on ears and toes.  I'm not just saying this because he is my kid but he is really a quick learner.   The other night we were all playing in the living room and just out of curiosity I told him to go give Charlie our dog a kiss.  He turned around crawled right over to Charlie and kissed him.  Needless to say I probably shouldn't have started this but I really didn't think he would understand me.  Please don't turn me into DHS.  I think I've turned into one of those annoying moms that wants to show off her kid.  God Bless

Happy 4th!!!

I want to start off by thanking all of the men and women who have served, and are currently serving, in our military.  Without you we would not have the freedom or the blessings that we have.  We take so much for granted but we must remember that freedom comes with a price.  Thanks for all that you do!  God bless you all!!!

Second, I want to update everyone on how we are doing as a "Family of 3", well 5 if you count Charlie and Bell but I think I'm the only one that thinks pets count.  It has been 10 days since Grant and Denver came home and the homecoming was soooooo wonderful and very long awaited.  Since then we have had alot going on in our lives as you can imagine.  It took me a while to get adjusted to being in charge of someone else's life...it's kind of a daunting task.  I don't think I or anyone else could've mentally or emotionally prepared me for what being a mother really means.  It is just something that you have to experience on your own to truly understand.  I know all of you moms out there are saying "we could have told you this", but I wouldn't have understood.  Enough about me, now onto what you come here to read about...Denver.

Denver is doing so well adjusting to his new life, he is such a great kid.  We are so blessed to have gotten such an awesome baby.  I tell him all the time "I don't know how we got the prettiest baby in Ethiopia".   I know boys are supposed to be handsome and not pretty but he's both.  He loves to laugh and play with his dad and I love to watch them play together.  We have had many "firsts" in our house these past 10 days.  He rode in a carseat for the first time, took his first steps, he is saying mama and dada, he ate his first popsicle, went for his first swim and many, many more.  Here are some pics of his homecoming and his first week at home.  I'm going to try and update more often now that life seems to be getting a little more situated.  Thanks for reading.  God Bless America!!!
